Simmons Organizational Survey
If
your company or work group has problems with: turnover; absenteeism;
productivity; waste of materials; shrinkage; labor disputes; relational
problems; customer service; low sales or profits then you need the Simmons Organization Survey (SOS). It helps improve morale, teamwork, operations and productivity!
Employees usually know what is wrong in their work group. They are
close to the problems and see them every day. Yet, they usually do not
discuss their insights for fear of jeopardizing their job status.
Wouldn't it be great if you could get open and constructive feedback
from your employees, leading to the solution of major organizational
problems? The Simmons Organizational Survey was designed to meet this
need.
By accurately and anonymously assessing employee feelings and opinions,
the SOS tests the adequacy of 150 key organizational areas like
training, supervision, communication, relationships, working
conditions, policies/procedures, pay, benefits, etc.
Using the SOS will help you to:
Do comprehensive personnel studies, operations studies, and team-building easily, effectively, and inexpensively.
Identify the strengths of each work group. Determine what makes each
group successful that can be applied to other groups.
See each problem, the problem's location, and each problem's solution.
Identify the degree of each problem allowing you to easily prioritize your solutions.
Spend your time and money only on action that will really make a difference.
Measure the effectiveness of your constructive action by retesting at a later date.
Be more objective than personal interviews.
Improve employee morale and productivity, while reducing employee-related costs.
Measure the intensity of employee feelings by letting them indicate how
much they agree or disagree with questions and statements.
Other benefits of using the SOS:
Employees can be open and honest because of anonymous responses.
It is easily completed in 20 minutes, individually or in groups, requiring only basic reading skills.
Results can be sorted by work group, department, division, race, age, shift, sex, or any variable.
Questions can be customized as needed.
It is computer-scored and laser-printed with turn-around in 3 to 5 days.
Reports are easily understood and require no training to read.
In 1990, 57 General Managers of a Wendy's Old-Fashioned Hamburger
franchise in Florida were given the SOS. It pinpointed several key
areas needing improvement. Constructive action was then taken based
upon SOS information. One year later the SOS was given to these same
individuals. The results were outstanding. All major areas showed
significant improvement. For example:
88% improvement in the perceived effectiveness of the district manager's administrative and technical ability;
117% improvement in the perceived effectiveness of the district
manager's relational style and methods of communication;
67% improvement in the employees' comfort with the physical work environment;
377% improvement in the employees' satisfaction with their wages, hours, and benefits;
67% improvement in the employees' feelings toward job fulfillment.
